Aim: the course aims to provide knowledge and understanding of approaches for toxicological risk assessment in regulatory processes for different categories of chemicals in the light of new alternative approaches in toxicology
Estimated number of participants – up to 40
We anticipate that participants will be from Bulgaria, the Balkan and the Mediterranean countries (Albania, Bulgaria, Bosna and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Nord Macedonia, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine).
Content of the training: contemporary methodology for the different steps in risk assessment (hazard identification, hazard characterisation, exposure assessment, risk characterisation); Next generation risk assessment; use of Adverse Outcome Pathways and Mode of Action Frameworks in risk assessment; derivation and use of health-based guidance values (e.g. RfD, ADI, AOEL, DNEL etc.); application of regulations and guidelines for different sectors: (Chemicals, Occupational health , Мedical devices, Pesticides and biocide , Cosmetics , Nanomaterials, Food contact materials, Microplastics and nanoplastics, emerging risks) See preliminary programme for specific details.
Course will offer a poster discussion session on specific issues in the respective countries, with the aim of training and sharing experiences.
Format: 5-day course, with lectures and case study, 5 working group sessions, and 5 rapports of outcome. A written exam will be held at the end of the course. All participants will receive a certificate at the end of the course.
