The functions of the directorate are related to the implementation of the health policy in the field of public health and the prevention of mental health. Among the main activities are analysis and monitoring of the health status of the population in order to determine priorities in the field of mental health promotion, stress management and suicide prevention. The Directorate coordinates and methodically directs the activities related to the prevention of drug use, harm reduction, treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation of persons who have been addicted or have abused drugs. The Directorate develops programs for prevention of drug use, for psychosocial rehabilitation and reduction of health damage from drug use.Prepares and submits for approval to the NSNV a national report on drug-related problems in Bulgaria.
