The Directorate participates in the creation of a scientific basis for evidence-based government policy to limit health risk, improve and strengthen public health. Assists in its implementation through the implementation of research, scientific-expert, consultative and educational activities on issues related to the quality of the living environment and the possible health risk, occupational health, toxicology, food and nutrition. The Directorate identifies and studies existing and emerging health risks. Health risk assessments for the population related to the impact of harmful environmental factors are made and recommendations are made to prevent adverse health consequences. An assessment of the health risk from harmful factors of the work environment and the labor process is carried out and guidelines for limiting occupational and work-related diseases are developed. Scientific and applied activity in the field of toxicology is carried out, scientifically substantiated approaches and health criteria for assessment of the toxicological characteristics and the toxicological health risk of chemicals are introduced and applied. Methods for research and assessment of nutrition and nutritional status are validated and implemented, national monitoring, studies, risk analysis and assessment of nutrition and nutritional status of the population are carried out, risk groups are identified, trends are outlined; programs, recommendations, guidelines for reducing the risk to health and for chronic non-communicable diseases associated with unhealthy eating are developed.
