New TV, "Hello, Bulgaria", 13.06.2019 A new regulation on healthy eating for children prohibits fried foods, frozen meat and foods with hydrogenated fats. The project was published for public discussion on the website of the Ministry of Health. "All of these products are part of a balanced diet for children. The previous Ordinance No.6 banned the mekitzi (Bulgarian doughnut) and fried slices in whole-day meals. The fish will not be excluded as food - chilled fish will be offered, which is more beneficial to the children", said Assoc. Prof. Lalka Rangelova, MD, PhD from the Food and Nutrition Department of the National Center of Public Health and Analyses (NCPHA).
