The Innovative Partnership for Action Against Cancer (iPAAC) Joint Action has been started since last April 1, 2018 and will continue for three more years - until April 2021.

iPAAC JA is funded is funded by the European Union’s Third Health Programme (2014-2020). The Joint Action is coordinated by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) of the Republic of Slovenia, bringing together 44 partners from 24 European countries.

iPAAC's primary goal is to develop innovative approaches to cancer control. These approaches include topics for innovative and deeper cancer prevention; comprehensive approaches to the application of genomics in cancer control; to improve information on cancer and cancer registries, on the challenges and improvements in cancer care; the anticipated challenges posed by innovative therapies and the management of integrated control.

The NCPHA participates in Work Package 5 and Work Package 7.
The purpose of Work Package 5 (WP 5) is to promote cancer prevention, health promotion and the reduction of inequalities. The promotion of these three goals should be pursued by focusing on health in all policies through the European Code Against Cancer (ECAC), through population screening programs and by defining barriers to early detection of cancer disease.
The focus of Work Package 7 (WP7) is to improve cancer-related information systems to improve evidence-based comprehensive cancer care, with a focus on models of care, cost of care and survival. Joint Action should promote this improvement, both locally and nationally, while ensuring a high level of standardization and comparability in data collection and processing procedures between Member States. WP7 will cover carcinoma of the colon, of the rectum and pancreatic cancer, and skin melanomas.

More information about the iPAAC Joint Action can be obtained from the official website (www.ipaac.eu)
